FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

[March 26, 2020- Chesapeake Beach, Maryland] – In response to COVID-19 concerns, the Town of Chesapeake Beach will close the Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail and the Kellam’s field tot lot, effective Friday, March 27, 2020 at 2:00 pm. While we recognize that citizens have enjoyed the use of the railway trail and playground during these times of quarantine, these amenities also attract guests from outside the Town posing an immediate increase in danger to the over 2,500 Town citizens that connect to the trail. It is imperative that we reduce any known risk of spread of COVID-19.

"Don't panic but be smart. We have to take measures that may appear drastic, but that are vitally necessary. Call a neighbor to check on them, especially the elderly, stay home as much as possible and follow preventive guidelines. We will get through this together." Mayor Pat "Irish" Mahoney.
