Councilman Larry Jaworski obtains Climate Change Professional Designation

[Chesapeake Beach, MD, April 3, 2020]– The Town of Chesapeake Beach is pleased to announce the recent designation obtained by Councilman Larry Jaworski of Certified Climate Change Professional (CC-P) by the Maryland Climate Change Academy. Mayor Patrick J. “Irish” Mahoney commends Councilman Jaworski for his continued efforts to expand his impacts within the Town, stating that, “Councilman Jaworski is a true asset to the Town and a dedicated public servant congratulating him on his efforts to obtain the prestigious Maryland Climate Academy designation.”   

The designation builds upon Councilman Jaworski’s professional Engineering background further expanding his ability to advise the Town to ensure best practices are followed, as the Town develops long range plans to maintain recreational areas and mitigate risks of sea level rise. “Since our town is located immediately on the shore of the Chesapeake Bay, I felt it was critical to acquire additional resources on the potential impact of climate change on our community. I plan to utilize the expertise gained from the Climate Change Academy and my experience during over 45 years as a civil engineer specializing in water-related issues to work with our town staff to mitigate the impacts of climate change.” stated Councilman Larry Jaworski.

Established in 2018 by the State of Maryland in partnership with the Association of Climate Change Officers, the Maryland Climate Leadership Academy is positioned to advance the capacity of state and local government agencies, infrastructure organizations and businesses to develop and implement sound climate change initiatives thus ensuring current and future public health, security and economic prosperity.

Maryland's Climate Leadership Academy supports the work of the Maryland Climate Change Commission, providing important continuing education and executive training to state and local governments, infrastructure organizations and the private sector.
