April 5, 2023 (Chesapeake Beach, MD) - Don’t toss your oyster shells! After enjoying a delicious appetizer or meal of Chesapeake Bay oysters, bring your empty shells to the recycling bins behind Chesapeake Beach Town Hall. They don’t even have to be rinsed or cleaned. The used shells are recycled into oyster reefs in the bay, providing habitat for new oysters and crabs, fish, mussels, barnacles, eels, and other aquatic creatures. DID YOU KNOW…..One oyster can filter 50 gallons of water in one day. That’s a lot of pollutants removed from the bay!

Oysters!

The container is located at the south west back side of Town Hall and is labeled as shown below for "Oyster Shells". Please call Town Hall if you have any questions at (410)257-2230.
