Mayor Pat "Irish" Mahoney

Mayor Mahoney serves as the Mayor and Town Council President. 

Pat moved to town in 1994 with his bride Judy and 1 yr. old son Patrick. They wanted to raise their son in a wholesome small town offering an excellent education and recreational opportunities. They struck gold with Chesapeake Beach. Pat was elected to the Town Council in 1996, twice elected by the Town Council to be the Vice-President, and is now serving a second term as Mayor.

Pat (well, Coach Pat) coached youth soccer / basketball for 15 yrs. as his son grew up. Pat graduated from Temple University in 1978 with a degree in US History and recently retired from the U.S. Dept. of Treasury after 35 years of service. Pat is a very visible man about town spending much of his free time at Roland’s and the Library. He and his wife, Judy, enjoy the delicious cuisine from all of the many wonderful restaurants in the Twin Beaches.

Pat is an avid swimmer, reader and sports enthusiast. He enjoys fantasy football and has a passion for Maryland Terrapin sports and Phillies baseball.

When he moved to Town, Pat was nicknamed “Irish” by his neighbor “Dutch” Ritter and the name stuck. Irish enjoys being among the people, is very approachable and believes constituent service is the #1 asset he brings to the Town. So when you see Irish, stop him and feel free to tell him what is on your mind.
