“A Life to be Celebrated, his Contributions to be Appreciated, Senate President Emeritus Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.”

Chesapeake Beach, MD, January 18, 2021- On behalf of the citizens of the Town of Chesapeake Beach, the Mayor and Town Council are deeply saddened by the passing of Senate President Emeritus Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr., a resident of Chesapeake Beach, MD, and the longest serving Maryland Senate President. Senator Miller’s accomplishments for the Town, over the past five decades are unrivaled. Through his strong leadership in the Senate, Senator Miller successfully shepherded key bills that benefited our community; including funding for school construction, community projects, parks and recreation, improved safety and stewardship of the Chesapeake Bay.

In October of 2020, the Mayor and Town Council announced the renaming of the play area at Kellam’s field, as the “Miller- Loveless Park at Kellam’s field”, which is planned to incorporate low impact work out equipment for senior citizens, an upgraded children’s play area and green space at the foot of the Railway Trail. The Park is named after Senator Miller and in memory of Megan Jade Loveless. Senator Miller sponsored the revitalization project through a bond initiative providing a grant to the Town of $50,000. The Mayor and Town Council look forward to continuing to honor Megan Jade Loveless and Senator Miller within the Town’s center bringing citizens together to stay active and healthy.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Senator Miller’s wife, his children, grandchildren, and his many family and friends. The Town will continue to celebrate Senate President Emeritus  Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr's life and his many contributions towards the longstanding vitality of our community.
