Air Quality Level Forecast for Sunday, June 18, 2023

Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups
Town of Chesapeake Beach

June 17, 2023 (Chesapeake Beach, MD): The Town of Chesapeake Beach is monitoring the air quality as many of our residents and guests are enjoying our recreational parks this weekend. Per the Maryland Department of the Environment, Chesapeake Beach can expect "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG) ozone concentrations possible Sunday and Monday, compounded by persistent, though diffuse, wildfire smoke. Despite lower emissions Sunday, a combination of aged wildfire smoke, intense sun, and light northwest winds will foster ozone pushing towards the lower USG categorical forecast Sunday for areas southeast of DC."

According to AirNow.gov, the following groups should reduce prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion: people with lung disease, such as asthma, children and older adults, and people who are active outdoors.

We advise that you take this into consideration as you plan your Sunday outdoor activities.
