June 29, 2023 (Chesapeake Beach, MD): The Town of Chesapeake Beach continues to monitor air quality as many of our residents and guests enjoy our recreational parks. Per the National Weather Service, Calvert County is under a "Code Red Air Quality Alert" for Thursday, June 29, 2023. For this reason, the Chesapeake Beach Water Park, Bayfront Park, and Kellam's Field will be closed on Thursday, June 29, 2023. Please see the alert below:

Charles-St. Marys-Calvert- 440 PM EDT Wed Jun 28 2023 ...AIR QUALITY ALERT IS IN EFFECT FOR THURSDAY JUNE 29 2023... The Maryland Department of the Environment has issued a Code RED Air Quality Alert Thursday for Southern Maryland. A Code Red Air Quality Alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region are unhealthy for the general population. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.
