Boat Fire: Mears Ave

By NBVFD March 21, 2022 (Chesapeake Beach, MD) On March 21, 2022, at approximately 0813, Calvert County Emergency Communications Center alerted Co. 1 (North Beach), Co. 5 (Dunkirk), Co. 6 (Huntingtown), Co. 2 (Prince Frederick) and Anne Arundel Companies 9 & 42 for the report of a boat on fire at the Rod ‘N’ Reel Marina, 4100blk of Mears Avenue.

Engine 11 (4 personnel), Engine 12(2 personnel) , Boat 1, and Sgt 1 responded. Engine 11 arrived on scene to find two boats on fire. Sgt 1 (B. Callis) arrived on scene and assumed the command. Engine 11’s crew quickly stretched a leader line and placed it in service to extinguish the burning boats. Boat 1 also assisted with extinguishment. Units operated for approximately three hours.

No injuries were reported and all personnel from the boats were accounted for.
