March 1, 2024 (Chesapeake Beach, MD)- NOTICE: The Town of Chesapeake Beach Public works staff is currently working with JDT electric to upgrade the existing high pressure sodium ball field lights at the Kellam's complex to Light Emitting Diode (LED). This improvement will reduce energy consumption by at least 75% and decrease maintenance expense due to the extended life of the LED lights being three times as long as high pressure sodium lights.

To accomplish this retrofit of the lights some work will take place after dark starting on Friday March 1st with work continuing through the weekend. Residents nearby or passing through the area may see green laser beams as a laser will be used to aim lights. The ball field lights will be turned on at times to check alignment. All work will end no later then 10:00 pm.

Weather permitting this upgrade should take 5-8 working days to complete.
