Further, Hazardous Weather Conditions Update
(Chesapeake Beach, MD) August 3, 2020- In preparation for gusty winds and rain on Tuesday August 4th, and the chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, the Town has the following updates for residents:
- Bayfront Park will close at 2:30 PM today. The Town expects Bayfront Park and the Chesapeake Beach Water Park to re-open on Wednesday August 5th.
- Residents scheduled for Tuesday trash and bulk collection will be cancelled IF the landfills close. At this time, the landfills are scheduled to be open. If landfills close, our trash contractor will collect trash on Thursday and will collect ALL Town recycling on Friday. Please stay tuned for any updates on trash collections as we have more information.
- Town and County sand bag information updated below.

SAND & BAGS: are available for Town residents to fill starting after 12:00 PM today in the Kellams field parking lot in the area shown below with a "x". The Town is providing the sand, bags and shovel for residents; however, residents are encouraged to use their own shovel. 10 bags per residence MAX.
Calvert County Services offered:
The county has sand and sandbags available for residents who need them to protect property. Up to 20 sandbags per person may be picked up until 7 p.m. today at the following locations:
- Appeal Salt Dome, 401 Sweetwater Road, Lusby
- Stafford Road Salt Dome, 335 Stafford Road, Barstow
- Mt. Hope Salt Dome, 92 Pushaw Station Road, Sunderland
County staff will be available to assist. Citizens should bring a shovel to fill bags.
Residents must follow health precautions for preventing the spread of COVID-19, to include maintaining a physical distance of at least six feet from others and wearing a face covering if unable to maintain adequate distancing.
