June 20, 2023 (Chesapeake Beach, MD): When visiting Bayfront Park, please keep in mind that this recreational area is a natural habitat to many different kinds of wildlife and protected species. Please be aware of your surroundings in order to protect our wildlife and use caution when necessary to protect yourselves.

Horseshoe crab migration and spawning: This time of year is when horseshoe crabs begin to spawn and migrate. You will see many crabs on the shore of the beach, please do not disturb them. The spawning of the horseshoe crabs is a natural marvel that occurs along the Delaware and Chesapeake Bay. To read more about the annual Horseshoe Crab migration returning to Maryland, please click here

Snakes: There have been sightings and reports of snakes near the beach and around the boardwalks. Please use caution as the species are unknown at this time.
