"If I Were Mayor, I Would......"

Beach Elementary School Students Ponder the Possibilities as Mayor
Mayor Pat

February 20, 2024 (Chesapeake Beach, MD) - Mayor Patrick "Irish" Mahoney spurs Beach Elementary School students imaginations as they pondered all the things they could accomplish as Mayor.

Each year, Mayor Mahoney spends time with students to provide insight into what it takes to run a municipal government, by exploring the challenges and significant responsibility for serving town citizens. The Maryland Municipal League (MML) holds the annual "If I Were Mayor, I Would…" essay contest, which is the League's oldest ambassador program. The 24-year-old contest educates fourth graders (and teachers) about municipal government and the role of the Mayor with Beach Elementary School students receiving awards many times over the 24 year period. We look forward to seeing Beach Elementary School students' submissions and hearing your ideas for improving the Town of Chesapeake Beach.
