Coastal resiliency

February 27, 2023 (Chesapeake Beach, MD)- The Town of Chesapeake Beach will hold its second special meeting on the topic of flooding and the long term vulnerability of the rising levels of the Chesapeake Bay. The meeting will be held tonight - February 27th at 6 PM at the Chesapeake Beach Town Hall.

The Town Chesapeake Beach has formed a Steering Committee of town residents to prepare a plan to address rising water levels. Water levels in coastal Maryland have been rising over time and by 2050, the Bay’s mean high tide is projected to be 2.1 feet higher than levels measured in 2000. Beyond 2050, water levels are projected to rise further. The Town has mapped possible future areas of inundation and is studying the impact to our neighborhoods, roads, and infrastructure and will prepare a plan to address this long term challenge
