Public Safety Announcement

July 22, 2022 (Chesapeake Beach, MD)- Mayor Mahoney reminds citizens to use caution during this time of a worldwide heat wave. The Mayor shared Hot Car safety tips during his Mayors report at the July 21, 2022, Town Council meeting. 

1. Lock your cars: 1/3 of all hot car deaths are from kids wandering into locked cars
2. Keep your car keys in a safe place
3. If a child is missing, check your car first
4. Teach your children how to honk; this could save their lives if they are stuck in a car and unable to get out
5. Check your back seats. Keep something you need in the backseat when traveling with your children. 
6. If you see something, do something. If you see a child alone, do not hesitate to call 911.
7. Don't leave children or pets in your car under any circumstance.
