July 26, 2023 (Chesapeake Beach, MD) - The Mayor, Council, Planning and Zoning Commission, Board of Appeals, staff and citizens of the Town of Chesapeake Beach wish Chris Jakubiak, AICP well in his new role as Director of Planning for the City of Annapolis.

Mr. Jakubiak, AICP has served as the Town's Planning and Zoning Administrator since 2012; however, his work with the Town began well before that time. In 2002 Jakubiak & Associates, Inc. prepared the Town's Comprehensive Plan, a plan for the year 2020, which was selected by the Maryland Chapter of the American Planning Association for the Outstanding Plan in Maryland Award for 2002-2003 an award that would not have been possible without Mr. Jakubiak.  He also played a key role in the Town's successful award of funding to complete the Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail, in planning the trail alignment, negotiating public access easements, and managing overall project implementation. During that decade, he also led the effort to update the zoning ordinance and adopt a new zoning map aimed at implementing the Town’s goals for 2020.

Mr. Jakubiak's guidance to the Town's Planning and Zoning Commission, Board of Appeals, Coastal Resiliency Steering Committee and Town Council has been grounded in more than three decades of planning experience.  This experience has been vital to the Town's recent navigation of significant adjustments to the future density of development, the protection of natural areas, promoting coastal resiliency through his work on the recently adopted 2040 Comprehensive Plan, and the recently drafted Coastal Resiliency Plan.

"It is always challenging to make changes, but changes have been necessary to protect our small coastal Town. Chris has guided the Town through significant challenges as elected officials, appointed officials and citizens charted a new course for the Town through zoning and land use changes. The Town Council joins me in being forever grateful for his steady, professional and transparent advisement and wish his all the best in the City of Annapolis!", stated Patrick J. "Irish" Mahoney, Mayor.

"Chris will be missed greatly; however, his work and his mark on the Town of Chesapeake Beach will last for many years to come", stated Holly K. Wahl, Town Administrator.

Mr. Jakubiak is expected to serve as the Planning & Zoning Administrator for the Town of Chesapeake Beach until the end of August 2023. The Town of Chesapeake Beach will be releasing information on plan's for this important role within the coming week.
