A Tree in Memory

April 23, 2024 (Chesapeake Beach, MD) - The Town of Chesapeake Beach prepared a space to plant a tree purchased by the Chesapeake Beach Garden Club in memory of Chuck Ruttkay and his contributions to the Town of Chesapeake Beach.

Town residents and volunteers gathered at the park to observe Clarence “Shoe” Schumaker planting the tree at the B Street ‘Old Campgrounds‘ pocket park overlooking the Bay. A small plaque is planned to be placed near the tree at a later date. When you visit this newly constructed pocket park we hope that this new planting will bring memories of Chuck Ruttkay and his special place at the heart of the Town of Chesapeake Beach.
