July 26, 2021 (Chesapeake Beach, MD)- A message from John Bacon, Chairman of the Chesapeake Beach Oyster Cultivation Society:

Hello CBOCS Volunteers,

I hope that each of you and your families are healthy during this stressful times.

CBOCS News:

- Oyster delivery this September is scheduled for Friday September 10 at 10 AM at Marina West. 100 bags will go directly to the Old Rock reef using a minimum number of people. The job is to cut open the bags, load subs and put them on the boat. Bring a box cutter and wear gloves. Takes about 1 hour. Need 6 members for this effort. CONTACT JOHN IF YOU ARE INTERESTED AND AVAILABLE.

- The 5th grade oyster field trips to Fishing Creek are scheduled to start in September. We need 3 more volunteers to cover some of the 26 dates from September to November. If you can come any time from 1 day to all days it would be of great help to our existing volunteers. A list of exact dates will be published in late August. PLEASE CONTACT JOHN BACON IF YOU ARE INTERESTED AND AVAILABLE. If you need to contact John and are unsure of how to reach him please contact Town Hall at (410)257-2230 or via email at info@chesapeakebeachmd.gov.

- The Old Rock Reef oysters are growing.

- CBOCS will resume normal activities and meetings this fall.

John Bacon
